About Mino

Gifu prefecture is located in the middle of Japan and has been the important crossroads of the traffic and culture from its early days. Mino, the southeastern region of Gifu, is said to have started its pottery making in the 7th century.

Since then, the pottery industry has developed constantly and now Mino is the major capital of the Japanese pottery industry. Mino's production of ceramic tableware is the biggest in Japan and has been supporting the local economy over centuries. Today, many ceramic artists live in Mino and continue energetic creative activity toward the world.

Also, everyone who visit to the area may see and touch such traditional industries, pottery arts by the artist in face to face.
